  2. Reason-specific steps:
    • “I found an alternative service” — we’ll ask which one so we can improve.

Uploading music

WAVjunkie does not commercialise your uploaded music outside of the WAVjunkie website and WAVjunkie social media. Your audio will not be used in social media posts but we may mention your artist name and/or link to your track.

What file formats are accepted?

  • Audio: Only WAV files (16-bit or 24-bit)
  • Cover art: JPG, PNG, or WEBP (minimum 1400×1400 pixels)

Why WAV only?

WAV files provide the highest audio quality. When listeners purchase your music, they receive the same high-fidelity files you upload.

What release types can I upload?

TypeTrack count
Single1 track
EP2–5 tracks
Album5–20 tracks

Is there an upload limit?

PlanTracks per month
Free20
Grow50
Pro100
Limits reset on the 1st of each month. Upgrade from Settings → Plans in your dashboard.

What happens if I lose my browser session mid-upload?

WAVjunkie auto-saves your progress between every wizard step (you’ll see a “Progress auto-saved” indicator). If your browser closes, crashes, or loses connectivity, return to the upload page and you’ll see a recovery banner offering two options:
  • Resume — Pick up exactly where you left off, with your metadata and any uploaded files restored.
  • Save as Draft to My Releases — Saves the in-progress release as a draft accessible from My Releases anytime.
WAV files that hadn’t finished uploading at the time of interruption need to be re-uploaded when you resume. All metadata, cover art, and licence PDFs are preserved.

Can I drag and drop the mechanical licence and sample authorization PDFs?

Yes. In Step 4 of the upload wizard, you can drag a PDF directly onto either the mechanical licence tile or the sample authorization tile — no need to click into a file picker. The tile validates the file and saves it against the release immediately.

How do I schedule a release for later?

During Step 5, choose Schedule for Later instead of publishing immediately, then select your desired release date and time.

Can I edit a release after publishing?

Yes — title, description, price, genre and tags, cover art, and visibility. You cannot change audio files (delete and re-upload instead).

Why does my upload keep failing?

Common causes: file is not a valid WAV format, file is corrupted, slow connection, or browser timeout. Try re-exporting from your DAW, using a different browser, or checking your connection.

Do I need a mechanical license for covers?

Yes. If you’re uploading a cover version, you must have a valid mechanical license and upload proof (PDF) during the upload process. Your entire release will be held from public view until the licence is approved.

Do I need sample clearance?

Yes. If your music contains samples from other works, you must have written authorization and upload proof (PDF). Your entire release will be held from public view until the sample authorization is approved.

Who owns the music I upload?

You do. Uploading to WAVjunkie grants us a license to host, stream, and facilitate sales of your music, but you retain all ownership and copyright.
